Quick answers to common questions about Monely.
No. Monely is strictly offline-first. All your expenses, incomes, transfers, budgets, accounts, and notes are stored locally in a sandboxed SQLite database on your device. We do not operate any server that stores your personal or financial data.
In Monely, tap More → Backup & Restore → Create Backup. The app generates an encrypted, complete JSON file of all your records and opens your device's system share sheet. You can save it to Google Drive, iCloud Files, send it via email, or keep it on your local device.
Install Monely on your new phone, transfer your backup file (.json) to the new device, then open Monely and go to More → Backup & Restore → Restore Backup. Select the file, and your transactions, accounts, and budgets will be restored immediately.
When adding a transaction, select the Transfer tab. Pick the source account (e.g., Bank) and destination account (e.g., Cash) and enter the amount. Monely adjusts both account balances accurately without counting the transfer as an expense or income in your monthly analytics.
You can set monthly spending limits for individual categories (like Groceries, Dining Out, or Shopping). Monely calculates your spent amount in real-time, displays intuitive progress bars, and alerts you when you approach or exceed your limits.
Yes. Go to More → Export Data. You can choose between:
You can mark any expense, income, or transfer as recurring with frequencies such as Daily, Weekly, Bi-weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, or Yearly. Monely automatically generates occurrences on schedule and sends notifications so you never miss a due date.
Yes! Go to More → Currency Settings to choose from global currencies (USD $, EUR €, GBP £, INR ₹, JPY ¥, CAD $, AUD $, etc.) or use automatic detection based on your device locale.
Because all data lives on your device, uninstalling the app permanently erases the local database. Always create a backup file via More → Backup & Restore before deleting or changing devices.
